There's a huge variety of restaurants cafés pubs and takeaways to suit every taste in Falmouth some of these are in walking distance others require a short trip by car or water taxi. These are some of the more popular and recommended places to try...

  1. The Maritime Museum Café

  2. This has great views. When you've visited the maritime museum once you can get in free for a whole year.
  3. The Shed

  4. Situated in Events square opposite the apartment, The shed is a great place to get a takeaway pizza if you don't fancy cooking or stay and try the tapas with one of the many cocktails on offer... Happy hour is between 6/7pm.
  5. Five Degrees West

  6. An award winning pub with great food and outside seating. You can find FDW opposite the apartment on the corner of Quay Hill and Arwenack Street
  7. Harbour Lights Fish and Chips

  8. Award winning and highly recommend. Its just across from Custom's House Quay and does great take aways or you can eat in and admire the views.
  9. The Chain Locker

  10. You can find the chain locker on Custom's House Quay. This pub is one of the busiest and best known in Falmouth selling a variety of local beers and ales. They also serve pub food and have a special two main meals for £7.99 deal. On a summers evening you can also sit outside on the quay and enjoy the far reaching views over the Fal estuary
  11. The Quayside Inn

  12. This is also on Custom's House Quay and shares outside seating with the Chain Locker. It also serves similar food. There is regular live music in here.
  13. Bodene's

  14. A popular Restaurant serving a mixture of Spanish and Italian dishes try the Tapas washed down with a childed jug of sangrea, you can find Bodenes on Arwenack Street and the corner of Quay Hill.
  15. Harbour View Café

  16. Only a short walk from the apartment on Arwenack Street. It's the place to go if you want to start the day with a good old English Breakfast for you vegetarians try the home made pancakes with maple syrup..., sit on the terrace and take in the views. They open at 8am.
  17. Shelton's Café

  18. This stylish café is situated on Quay Hill. It's an absolutely lovely little café with great service and an amazing attention to detail. Amongst other things they serve jacket potatoes, pizzas, teas, coffees and beers.
  19. The Cove, Maenporth

  20. This restaurant comes highly recommended from other past residents. It overlooks Maenporth Beach. It might be expensive but perhaps good for a special treat!
  21. The Three Mackerel

  22. This restaurant sits on the cliffs at Swanpool, overlooking the beach and with a view of Pendennis castle in the distance. It's a great spot for an evening meal or just a lazy afternoon with a bottle of wine and tapas. If your after an evening meal It may be worth reserving a table to avoid disapointment.

  1. Ferryboat Inn, Helford

  2. This pub / restaurant is in a great location on the Helford River. It's right by a beach on the river's edge and is a great place to pass an afternoon watching the world go by from the terrace. If you're a bit more adventurous you can catch a water taxi (approx. £2.50 each way) across to the other bank on the Lizard. Here there's another little pub / restaurant - The ShipWrights. For the more energetic there's a three mile walk through the woods along the river bank to St. Anthony in Meneagre - a quaint little spot on Gillan Creek with a lovely church, boat hire and a place to get an ice cream. Don't forget its another 3 mile walk back to the water taxi - but if you've walked far enough you can hire another boat to take you back to the taxi!
  3. Red Lion, Mawnan Smith

  4. An old thatched pub in a local village called Mawnan Smith. Great pub food!
  5. Pandora Inn, Restronguet Passage

  6. Another Picturesque pub / restaurant right on the water at Restronguet Passage, Great pub food the fish & chips are to die for..!! You can drive here or get a water taxi and arrive by water. A very popular place! You can't reserve a table so get there early!
  7. Smugglers Cottage, Tolverne

  8. Another ferry trip along the river Fal to Smugglers Cottage at Tolverne is well worth it. This is a small thatched 500 year old cottage where you can get a cream tea. It was used as a base for American troops before they set off for the D Day landings in the Second World War. Eisenhower even visited the troops there!
  9. Trengilly Wartha, near Gweek

  10. Is a country pub that serves great food - very popular with locals. Could be a good place to eat if you're visiting the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek.
  11. Castaways, Mylor Harbour

  12. There's a very nice restaurant / bar right by the marina here. A good place to go if you fancy a boat trip and a walk. Catch the ferry from Prince of Wales Pier over to Flushing. Then go for a bracing walk around Trefusis Point, Eventually you'll come to Mylor Harbour where a sit down and some refreshment will be very welcome!
  13. Gylly Beach Café

  14. This café / bar is situated right on Gyllyngvase Beach. It's definitely worth a visit.
  15. The Blue Bar

  16. A trendy bar that serves food - just up the road opposite Bodenes.
